Since opening its doors in 1966, Envision Boulder has become downtown Boulder’s premier eye care and eye wear destination!

Whether you need a comprehensive eye exam, medical eye care, contact lenses or evaluation for LASIK, you’ll find it here. We also offer a full-service optical with an on-site laboratory, staffed by certified opticians who work side-by-side with our doctors to ensure that each patient’s vision is the best it can be.

As an independent, doctor-owned office, our focus is on your individual needs. We’ve earned a reputation as a thoroughly professional practice that combines the latest technology in eye care with the best selection in eyewear all in a friendly and relaxed setting.

Doctors & Practice Manager

Dr. Jeff Smith

Dr. Jeff Smith’s easy-going manner and dedication to patient satisfaction exemplify the Envision Boulder brand. He takes pride in being able to provide all primary eye care services in a progressive, technologically advanced way.

Jeff followed in his father’s footsteps in becoming an optometrist. After earning his optometry degree at the Pennsylvania College of Optometry in 1982, the New Jersey native returned home to join his father’s practice. In 1988 he headed West and joined Envision Boulder where he has been taking great care of his patients ever since.

Outside of the office, raising three active daughters keeps Jeff and his wife busy. In his spare time, he enjoys gardening, hiking and golfing.

Dr. Jean Israelson

Boulder native Dr. Jean Israelson loves getting to know her patients and helping them to see their best. As a nearsighted child, she grew up with a special appreciation for how vision impacts all facets of our daily lives.

Jean graduated Magna Cum Laude with a B.S. in Biology from Indiana University, followed up by her Doctorate of Optometry, also at Indiana University, where she was a member of the Beta Sigma Kappa International Optometric Honor Society. After finishing school, Jean and her husband returned to Boulder to be near both of their families. Jean joined Envision Boulder in 2002 and has thrived in the energetic, health-conscious culture of her hometown.

When not providing her patients with exemplary care, Jean is often found skiing around the world or riding her bike. She enjoys spending time with her husband and two sons in and around the mountains.

Dr. Jennifer Smith

Dr. Jennifer Smith is a Boulder native and a third-generation optometrist. She attended CU-Boulder and graduated with a double major in Molecular, Cellular, and Developmental Biology and History. She continued her education at Pacific University College of Optometry, in Oregon, where she graduated with distinction.

Dr. Jenny enjoys caring for patients of all ages with a passion for fitting specialty contact lenses, pediatrics, and dry eye treatment.  

Outside of caring for her patients, Dr. Jenny enjoys skiing, fitness, baking, and exploring Colorado.
